MEMBER TRAINING


The following Courses are available through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, First District Office. An International Representative presents them at the Local Union level.

INDUSTRIAL SHOP STEWARD (2 days)
  • provide tools to the Steward to more effectively represent members on the job.

CONSTRUCTION SHOP STEWARD (1 day)
  • provide tools to the Steward to more effectively represent members on the job.

COMET - CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZING MEMBERSHIP TRAINING
  • designed to help members understand why we have to organize in the construction industry.

COMET II - CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZING MEMBERSHIP TRAINING
  • designed to teach members how to organize by "Salting" the employer.

MEMO - MEMBERSHIP EDUCATION and MOBILIZATION for ORGANIZING
  • designed to help members understand why we have to organize the unorganized.

STRATEGIC PLANNING (1 day)
  • how to develop a strategic plan

ORGANIZING - GOAL SETTING (1 day)
  • how to set up an effective Organizing Campaign.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING (2 days)
  • the roles and responsibilities of various Officers within the Local Union and the International Union.

ONE -ON -ONE ORGANIZING (1 day)
  • "how to organize" - one person at a time

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION (1 day)
  • a complete introduction to the IBEW for the new member.

CONDUCTING EFFECTIVE AND SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS (1 ½ days)
  • provides the necessary skills to make meetings effective and successful.

ORGANIZING (3 days)
  • planning and executing an effective organizing campaign.

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (3 days)
  • develops the skills required to design and teach union education courses.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS (1 day)
  • develops confidence and poise in human communications.

DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE (1 day)
  • develops the necessary skills to deal with difficult people in everyday life.
