As most of you already know, about a
month ago some of your fellow employees contacted the IBEW and asked for help in
organizing Charter and gaining a voice in the workplace through collective
bargaining.
Representatives of IBEW Local Union 466 started meeting with interested
employees and soon a Volunteer Organizing Committee was formed. The IBEW then
started training us in our rights under United States law and how the process of
organizing our workplace works.
We are in the process of reaching out
to all employees of Charter to see if they too have interest in helping to
organize a Union, but unfortunately we have not reached everyone as this process
has taken quite a bit of time.
Our employer has started having
“Captive Audience” meetings to convince us that a Union would not do us any
good. It is curious that the company would spend this much money trying to
prevent us from exercising our rights to organize under law. And still more
curious is the fact that the company is willing to spend this money on something
they say will do us no good. If it wouldn’t help us it seems that they wouldn’t
bother.
In an effort to reach everyone more
quickly your Volunteer Organizing Committee has put together this web page with
the help of the IBEW to give all employees access to all the facts about
Organizing and Collective bargaining. Just click on any of the links below for
more information. Please make sure you have all the information necessary to
make an informed decision on this important matter.
If you have questions please ask any
of the Volunteer Organizing Committee.
Sincerely,
Your Volunteer Organizing Committee
