Kentucky I.B.E.W Locals Rally for New Governor
Democrat Steve Beshear's lopsided victory on November 6, 2007 was good news for the IBEW and the AFL-CIO, a whopping 77% of Kentucky voters from Union households who went to the polls supported Beshear over Republican incumbent Ernie Fletcher. Bill Londrigan, President of the Kentucky AFL-CIO, said that the organizations mobilized an unprecedented number of volunteers--2,000 in the final four days of the campaign. Click for Rally Photos
The Local Union 1206 Negotiating Committee just completed contract negotiations with Owens Corning and the membership has ratified the new 3 year agreement.
The Highlights of the new agreement are:
Wage Increases:
3.5% Increase Effective 2/26/07
3% Increase Effective 3/3/08
1% Increase Effective 3/2/09
Created 5 Planner Positions
Made improvements to the FR Clothing Allowance

The Local Union 1206 Negotiating Committee just completed contract negotiations with Arvin-Meritor and the membership unanimously ratified the new agreement.
The highlights of the new agreements are:

Improvements to the Job Security Program
Improvements to the Job Income Security Program
Increased Safety Shoe Allowance
Additional PAA Day
$500 Signing Bonus
$500 Lump Sum Bonus February 5, 2007

2% Wage Increase February 2, 2009

Local Union 1718 just completed work on a new collective bargaining agreement and it has been ratified by the membership.
The new agreement provides for:
Contract Term: 12-1-2006 to 4-30-2011
Wage Increases:
5% Increase Retroactive to 12-1-2006
4% Increase 12-1-2007
4% Increase 12-1-2008
3% Increase 12-1-2009
3% Increase 12-1- 2010 through 4-30-2011
The Local Union also made improvements to the Pension Benefit, Vacation Leave, and Retirement Medical Supplement
