Brothers and Sisters:

Happy 2012:

A new year brings each one of us the chance to set personal goals and resolutions. It also gives us a chance to reflect back over the past year and evaluate the goals and resolutions we made last year and see how we measure up in keeping those commitments.

As an organization we set priorities and we will meet this month at our annual officers meeting for a review of last year and set the goals and benchmarks for the upcoming year. As I prepare to give the state of our Union to fellow officers, I recognize any success that the 8th District was able to attain rests solely on the shoulders of our local union officers, stewards and our staffs. They make things happen! I want to thank them for the day to day representation, service and leadership provided to members of the IBEW in the District.

I challenged our membership development team to reach out and change the life of those who don’t enjoy the privileges of IBEW membership. The IBEW has changed my life and that of my family. I have 2 Brothers, a Sister and 2 Sons who hold membership in our great union. As I look at the blessings membership has brought to our family I hope that others can enjoy similar success. That is where each one of you can weigh in, imagine the impact you can have on someone’s life as you invite them into membership!

As officers of the IBEW we will work to implement plans and programs that meet the constitutional promises of security, elevation of citizenship and a higher standard of living for our members and their families. If each one of you helped in this effort, just imagine what we could get done. So in closing, let’s not lose sight of the progress we’ve made during 2011, but let’s never be satisfied until we represent all workers in the entire electrical industry and their families.
