Cohen: Vote to Protect Your Rights,
Advance Labor
An anti-labor Labor Department, a National Labor Relations Board
lined up against workers and six years of a hostile presidential
administration have placed workers’ rights in severe jeopardy,
said IBEW General Counsel Larry Cohen in a sobering address.
COPE Giveaway Winners
President Edwin D. Hill announced on Friday morning that the
IBEW Political/Legislative Affairs Department had collected some
$290,000 in contributions to the National Political Action Fund
during Convention activities.

Address of President Ed Hill to the 37th IBEW Convention
"Brothers and sisters, thank you, and I do mean thank you,
again, from the bottom of my heart. I thank you for the confidence
that you have shown in me by honoring me with re-election
as President of the greatest trade union in the world, with
no offense intended to our British and our Australian friends."
IBEW Leadership Team Re- Elected
IBEW members at the 37th Convention demonstrated their support for progressive change by unanimously electing International President Edwin D. Hill and International Secretary-Treasurer Jon Walters to five-year terms. They ran unopposed and won by acclamation.
37th IBEW Convention Opens
with Fanfare, Sept. 11 Tribute
Five years to the day after Sept. 11 changed the world, the New York Local 3 Sword of Light Pipe and Drum Band marched into the Cleveland Convention Center playing the Marine Corps Hymn to usher in an emotional opening to the 37th IBEW International Convention.

Party Features Concert, Taste of Cleveland
The IBEW Block Party took over a breezy lakeside lawn for a concert,
a setting that gave delegates a chance to relax outside and enjoy
the offerings of a variety of local food vendors.

banquet room of Cleveland’s Crowne Plaza Hotel was overflowing
with delegates and leaders from all levels and branches of the
IBEW.

The 2006 Electrical Industry Exposition opened on Friday with
a ribbon cutting by President Edwin D. Hill and Secretary-Treasurer
Jon Walters before a crowd of delegates and guests eager to visit
over 110 exhibits of American and Canadian-made products and services.

The IBEW Women’s Conference held Friday morning, September
8, showcased a great spirit of solidarity and strong union sisterhood. More
than 200 delegates and guests attended.
