The Company and the Union Bargaining Teams met today to begin the process of negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement. After opening statements the parties agreed on a schedule for the rest of the week and identified what issues will be discussed on each day. The Union informed the Company that they are available to meet any time the Company would like.
By the tone of the company's opening statement, we can expect proposals that will shift cost and dramatically change the benefits that our members enjoy today.
The current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire on Saturday May 27, 2006 @ 11:59pm.
We are scheduled to meet with the Company on Retiree Benefits and pension issues on the 2nd of May at 8:00 AM. Updates will follow on all issues brought to the table.
