Avaya Bargaining
Update #17

May 25, 2006

The Chairs of the Company and Union bargaining teams met this morning to discuss the company's intent in bargaining. The Company apparently has changed direction and does not seem interested in reaching a fair and equitable agreement between the parties.

Their bargaining stance points in a completely different direction from what it was yesterday. With just two days remaining until contract expiration, it is critical that the Company negotiators make a renewed effort to resolve all bargaining issues.

The Unions remain committed to reaching a fair and equitable agreement at the bargaining table; however, Avaya's actions make it apparent the Company has chosen to head toward a strike or lockout rather than bargaining an agreement.

Our members should be prepared to take action if we are not successful in getting a fair and equitable agreement. Without jobs you have no Benefits or Security.

Everyone should be working to the rule. No one should be working overtime.

In Unity,

Your Bargaining Team
