Avaya Bargaining Update 13 - May 21, 2009


The IBEW subcommittee met this morning to discuss Chicago walker allowances, Boston walker allowances, additional excused workdays, an additional holiday (Martin Luther King Day), Non-discrimination language and GPS.

In the afternoon the joint IBEW/CWA bargaining team met with Avaya and proposed an economic package that included 5% per year in pay, 5% per year in pensions and verbiage to increase the lump sum option, 90% match in the savings plan, increase in the Alliance funding, increase in the certification bonuses, language to improve Card Check, and new language for job security and Succcessorship The Unions continue to reject the company proposal on mandatory job furloughs, and contributions for active and retiree health care.

The IBEW table will meet Friday morning and Unity Bargaining with CWA will reconvene at 1:30pm
