
Avaya Bargaining Update 14 - May 22, 2009
The IBEW bargaining team met in subcommittee this morning. Proposals and counter proposals were reviewed and tentative agreements were reached on some of the issues. Data was shared exploring a change in the $65.00 a day in lieu of board and lodging language. The IBEW subcommittee is meeting again this evening to review options regarding the in lieu of language.The joint IBEW/CWA bargaining team met this afternoon. The company presented its third proposal with little or no movement on wages, pensions, savings plan, furlough, Avaya Award, termination payments, Coordinators, Alliance funding, active medical, retiree medical, veba accounts and the Certification program. The company has rejected the Unions demands for card check, job security and successorship. The parties remain far apart as of this hour. The contract expires midnight Saturday May 23rd.
