Avaya Bargaining Update 19 - May 26, 2009
The IBEW and CWA bargaining chairs met today. Actuaries from the CWA and lawyers from the IBEW attended the meeting to discussed alternative funding for retiree healthcare. Also in attendance was IBEW International Representative Bob Erickson. Retiree and active member healthcare is the major obstacle in negotiating this contract. A presentation on healthcare will be given to the company tomorrow. The Unions counter proposal to the company’s economic package is based on the company’s response to our healthcare solution.
IBEW and CWA subcommittees worked on other open local issues. The main table will resume on Wednesday.
Remember the clock is still “stopped”. All members must report to work as scheduled.
