Lessons from California Deregulation California
is in chaos because electricity deregulation removed protections
on price and the reliability of service - leaving consumers paying
higher bills as electricity generators and marketers charge all
the market will bear.
Twenty-five other states are in some stage of deregulation and
consumers have little idea of the potential consequences.
Every consumer and voter need to be aware that deregulation isn't
about reliable service, choices, savings or any other benefit to
the average person. It's about greed. That's the lesson
from California - and the warning for other states.
