Zonta Trailblazer Award

January/February 2001 IBEW Journal

IBEW Local 164 was honored last fall with an award presented by Zonta Clubs of Bergen County, New Jersey. The Zonta Trailblazer Award, presented during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, acknowledges an individual or volunteer groups contribution toward breast and ovarian cancer services. Zonta is a worldwide service organization of female business and professional executives.

As a leader dedicated to increasing awareness and raising much-needed funds throughout Bergen County, Local 164 has blazed a trail on behalf of people who require these vital cancer services, said Val Heinrich, president of Zonta Club, Teaneck/Bergenfield.

We launched this fund-raising effort and became involved throughout the communities we serve, said Local 164 Business Manager Richard K. Dressel, to ensure those diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as their loved ones, can access the essential diagnostic, treatment and counseling services they need.

To date, Local 164 members have raised more than $40,000 to benefit breast cancer survivors, their families and research, said Heinrich, and we salute their efforts.

Local 164 Business Manager Richard Buzz Dressel accepts Trailblazer Award, presented by Zonta Clubs of Bergen County, New Jersey, in recognition of the locals having raised more than $40, 000 for cancer research, treatment and diagnostic services.
