Local 50 Members Ratify
Dominion Contract

September 12, 2002

Members of Richmond Local 50 voted overwhelmingly for a five-year contract offer from Dominion Virginia Power.  Nearly a month after a two-week strike of 3,700 workers, 81 percent of ballots were returned with a 10 to 1 majority in favor.  Highlights of the five-year contract include a 14.8 percent annual wage increase and a benefit enhancement to the Social Security supplemental fund.  The contract also includes local union fiduciary control over a fund that provides health care benefits to retirees.  A tentative agreement was reached on August 15.  Click here for more details from Local 50.
