Remembering the Fallen

January/February 2002 IBEW Journal

Numerous IBEW locals and members participated in activities to remember those who fell victim to the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, and to show the nations resolve in response. These photos depict two out of countless IBEW reactions to the attacks.1

Right, Members of Local 53, Kansas City, Missouri, on September 13, 2001, placed an American flag at the top of a structure in Louisburg, Kansas, which is part of a 16l-kv line being built for the Kansas City Power & Light Company. Foreman Don Hedtke supplied the flag, which was raised by journeyman linemen Will Alldredge and Sean Crawford.

Albany, New York, changed its annual Labor Parade to the Albany Labor Memorial March to honor those lost on September 11. On September 22, Local 236 proudly led the way on the march under the leadership of Business Manager Tim Paley and President Phil Garafolo with its local banner and the Stars and Stripes.
