Jon F. Henrich

After a 25-year career of service with the IBEW, Jon Henrich retired from his post as Third District International Representative on July 1, 2002.

Brother Henrich joined the Third District staff in 1989, assisting Third District utility locals with negotiations, arbitrations and organizing. He was initiated into Local 1600, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1976 as a lineman and served as a shop steward. Brother Henrich was active on Local 1600s executive, examining and COPE boards before he was elected business manager/financial secretary in 1984.

An Air Force veteran, Brother Henrich was a member of a combat flight crew and served two tours in Vietnam, from 1956 to 1960 and from 1961 to 1965.

Among his trade union activities were a stint as vice president of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, secretary-treasurer of the Capital Area (Harrisburg) Labor Management Group and secretary-treasurer of the Pennsylvania Electrical Workers Association. He also served on the board of directors of the Labor Department of Pennsylvania State University and the Lancaster Labor Federation. Brother Henrich served three terms as vice president of Lancaster United Way. Brother Henrich attended courses at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Maryland and Cornell University.

A longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Elks, Brother Henrich plans to commit more time to fishing and helping his wife Bonnie raise a herd of llamas.

The officers, members and staff of the IBEW wish Brother Henrich a long, healthy and happy retirement.1

Appointed

Fred A. Clark

The IBEW is pleased to announce the appointment of Fred A. "Rocky" Clark as Special Projects Director, effective July 1, 2002. He brings his extensive organizing experience to the position that was vacated by Gary Heald, who retired in January.

Brother Clark will be
relocating to the Washington, D.C. area from the Eighth District, where he has coordinated industrial organizing as an International Representative since 1997. He was initiated in 1974 into Local 44 in Butte, Montana, where he served on the executive board and as recording secretary until his election as business manager/financial secretary.

Committed to expanding the ranks of the IBEW through organizing and training new members, Brother Clark has served on the Montana Council on Vocational Education, the Montana Job Training Coordinating Council and as president of the Montana State Conference of Electrical Workers. He has attended courses at the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology and the Center for Degree Studies in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The members, staff and officers of the IBEW wish Brother Clark much luck in his new position. 1

William P. McBride

With great sadness, the IBEW announces the death May 7, 2002, of retired International Representative William P. McBride.

Brother McBride retired in 1980 after more than 30 years of service to the IBEW, with his last assignment in the International Office. In 1947, he was initiated into now-defunct Local 181 in Utica, New York, where he served as business manager and president and as a member of the examining and executive boards.

In 1965, Brother McBride was appointed International Representative assigned to the Third District. He moved to the International Office four years later, following his appointment as Executive Assistant, by former International President Charles Pillard, where he served until his retirement in 1980.

A veteran of World War II, he served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and attended Notre Dame University and Coyne Electrical School. The International Officers, staff and members of the IBEW extend their most heartfelt condolences to Brother McBrides wife, Ellen, their two sons and grandchildren.
