on stage at the Local 292 100-year
anniversary celebration.

L.U. 292 (em,govt,i,rtb, rts&spa), MINNEAPOLIS, MN In June Local 292 elected Bus. Mgr. Jim Marold, Pres. Larry MacDonald, Vice Pres. Doug Presser, Rec. Sec. Jon Schander, Fin. Sec. Richard Chantry, Treas. Annette Hurtado, Executive Board members Steve Claypatch, Robbie Crowfoot, Jim Gessner, John Hall, Jeff Lange, Dennis Simonson and Andy Snope and Examining Board members Keith Anderson, Barb Josephs, Rodger Kretman, Tim Ravn and Tim Snyder. Congratulations.

On Saturday, July 13, Local 292 celebrated 100 years of solid union existence at the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis and featured speakers, dinner and a band to cap the evening.

The 2003 IBEW Reunion will be held on July 7-13, 2003, in Brainerd, Minnesota, a very popular site.

This was the slowest summer in a few years and there are around 150 inside wiremen on the out-of-work book.

Chuck Gleason, P.S.

Good for Vermont
L.U. 300 (govt,i,mt&u), MONTPELLIER, VTIBEW Local 300 represents workers at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station and Green Mountain Power and Central Vermont Public Service, the Vermont owners of the plant. Over the years, Local 300 has actively participated in dockets before the Public Service Board, affecting the future of Vermont Yankee.

Out-of-state owners pressured the Vermont owners to sell Vermont Yankee. The IBEW strongly supported the sale of the plant to Entergy and urged the Vermont Public Service Board to reject any further delay. A delay would have ended this sale and would have imposed unacceptable risks on Vermont. The IBEW feels that the sale would be good for Vermont.

Vermont Yankee supplies one third of Vermonts energy and its sale will assure continued service and will prevent a premature and economic shutdown. The uncertainty over the future of the plant has kept Vermont from planning for its future energy supply.

George Clain,
Pres./Asst. B.M.

Golden Years
L.U. 306 (i), AKRON, OHWashington has been extolling the virtues of taking part of our Social Security and investing it in the stock market to enhance our individual retirements. But the CEOs and CFOs of several major firms are the only people who have had their retirements enhanced! Hundreds of thousands of working people lost the bulk of theirs. We trust our American work ethic of getting a good education, doing a good job and having a good life will see us through these times.

Bus. Mgr. David Moran recently reported the average American corporation realizes a net profit of around two percent, while major drug companies are averaging 18 percent. Wonder who the drug companies supported in the last election?

First place in the Annual Golf Outing was captured by the team of Bros. Brian Bramen, Jim Myers, Chris Stevens and Jason Yaich. The second place team consisted of Bros. Nick Sich, Jim Sich, Marty Jenior and Bernie Jenior. Long drivers were Jason Yaich and Eric Reeves, while accuracy holes belonged to Bros. Jim Bush, Chad Quarles and John Hornacek.

We mourn the passing of retired Bros. Kenneth Waser, John Yuhas, Henry Markham, Paul Stimson and Paul Houk, and send condolences to their families.

Robert Sallaz, V.P./P.S.

Staff Members Retire
L.U. 332 (c,ees,i,o&st), SAN JOSE, CABro. Beaman Wisdom retired effective September 1, and Sister Linda LaDuca retired effective September 30.

Organizer Beaman Wisdom became an inside apprentice in 1979 and a staff organizer in November 1997. Now, after 26 years of service, Beaman and his wife, Patricia, are relocating to their new home in Prescott, AZ, to be closer to their familyand the golf course!

Executive Asst. Linda LaDuca replaced him as officer manager in 1979 and has been an OPEIU Local 29 member for 211/2 years. In October 2000 Linda was appointed executive assistant to the business manager. Linda will be relocating with her husband, Chuck, to their new home in Modesto.

Beaman and Linda were a great asset to the IBEW and will be missed.

With sadness we report the death of Lynn Logan, wife of longtime member Jim Logan. Lynn was very active with the Community Services Committee, retirees, Ladies Auxiliary and anything else she could do to help. She will be sorely missed.

Please make sure to check your COPE endorsements and VOTE!

Certified Electricians!
L.U. 340 (em,i,o,rts&spa), SACRAMENTO, CACalifornia Governor Gray Davis signed Assembly Bill 1087 in May, requiring the certification of all electricians. This law goes into effect January 2005 and will provide a safe and productive climate. Details regarding applications, testing and certification will be forthcoming.

The November election will be crucial if we are to continue the lifestyle we have earned. If you have moved in the past year, remember, you must re-register to vote.

Members from all over the globe have sent in their RSVPs for our 100th Anniversary scheduled for Dec. 7.

Work continues to be slow and we thank the locals who keep our traveling members working.
