80-Year Service Award
RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 1, ST. LOUIS, MOOur retirees meet at the union hall in March, May, July, September and November at 9:30 a.m. This is a time to meet with old friends and reflect on the times. We focus on current events, pension topics, reports from delegates of the St. Louis Labor Council Retirees Organization and guest speakers. The November 20 meeting will be interesting and should give us some encouragement for the future on the political scene.

Our July meeting honored Bro. Andy Fahrenkrog with a plaque in recognition of his 80 years of service to the IBEW. There was a large crowd in attendance. We are honored to have a member such as Andy who has dedicated his life to our great organization. We congratulate and thank him for his longtime service.

The Local One Retirees Club would like to wish every IBEW member and their family a happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Rich King, P.S.

 Bro. Warren DeMerritt
with flag from 1945.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 6, SAN FRANCISCO, CAAfter 16 years of faithful and dedicated service Pres. Gene Wilbert, Vice Pres. John Bruni and Sec. Walter Hoppe turned over the reins to other retirees. Brothers like these make it all worthwhile, and we thank them for their dedication and faithful support.

At our July meeting, members elected Pres. John Walsh, Vice Pres. Joe Parham, Second Vice Pres. Dan Twomey, Sec. Ed Conway and Treas. Warren DeMerritt. We congratulate and wish them all the best.

In observance of Veterans Day on November 11, we would like to name the 20th Centurys most important personGI Joe. He served as a soldier, sailor, Seabee, airman, Marine or member of the Coast Guard, and was re-named after being called "Doughboy" during World War I. We thank all who served for their selflessness, compassion and reverence for democracy. America has sent her GI Joes halfway around the world, not to conquer, but to liberateand they did! World War II veterans pass on at the rate of 1,500 per day; so let us reflect our heartfelt gratitude and salute American heroes, our own GI Joes!

Bus. Mgr. John ORourke placed a 1945 flag, found in Local 6 storage, in the Charles Foehn Memorial Hall in the Local 6 building. The eight gold stars represent members who served in our Armed Forces and were killed in action.

Officers Installed
RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 90, NEW HAVEN, CTSpring and summer have gone and it was very dry in Connecticut, almost drought conditions.

We dont hold meetings during July and August, now that September has arrived we are getting back into the swing of things. We have the same officers again this year and they were installed at the September meeting. They are Pres. Rip Kirby, Vice Pres. Red Dog Harrison, Treas. Bob Gallagher and Rec. Sec. Hugh McGuire. Our meetings usually have 35 to 45 members attending. Many of our members have moved to Florida and become Snow Birds.

Bros. Bob Martin and Chet Dunlop, two good union brother retirees, are in ill health. We send them our prayers and best wishes. Chet was a very active brother in the union movement, and his son Dale worked at the I.O. in Washington. He and I served on the Golf Committee for Local 90 tournaments.

Our annual outing was an outstanding affair as usual, with excellent food. It was great to see and reminisce with members we dont often see.
