New Classrooms
L.U. 110 (em,i,rts, spa&u), ST. PAUL, MNGreetings, at this writing our work has been somewhat steady, and as of the end of September we have cleared Book 1, and have over 200 on Book 2.

We are remodeling. The JATC is adding more classrooms and the Credit Union is moving toward the front the building and adding a drive up. With more classrooms we can offer classes to better prepare our work force to compete in the electrical industry. The Credit Union is continuing to expand and offer better service to our members. If you havent checked them out, please do.

Two Harley Davidson Motorcycle dealerships are located in the Local 110 area. The Faribault dealer is building a large new store with nonunion contractors, but the addition at the Lakeville dealership is using IBEW union labor. So please support the dealership that is using a union contractor. If you wear dealership T-shirts, please consider NOT advertising for dealers that use nonunion contractors! Please pass this information on to others who can help support the Lakeville dealer that used union labor!

Ask for American Made

Local 124, Kansas City, MO, retirees who recently received
50 and 60-year service awards.

L.U. 124 (ees,em,i,mar, rts,se&spa), KANSAS CITY, MOCongratulations to our 50 and 60-year retirees who received their years of service awards and pins on September 11.

During this holiday shopping season, let us all remember the UNION LABEL when we make our purchases. It is important that we support our union brothers and sisters who make the goods we use, especially when times become a little tough. Ask retailers for UNION MADE, AMERICAN MADE productscheck the label before you buy! Lets keep our manufacturing jobs in the USA.

The annual Christmas in October Project was held October 5, and about 100 electricians joined forces with plumbers, painters, carpenters and a whole host of other craftsmen. They donated a days work to repair and fix-up homes of needy families in the Local 124 area.

May everyone have joyful holiday season. May all of our traveling brothers and sisters have a safe journey back to family and friends. May the work situation improve.

We remember the following deceased members: Oliver Goldsmith, James Harris, Russell Manning, Otto Metzger and Orland Payne.

Congratulations to the following retired members: Jerry Davis, Ralph Hood, and Philip Nichols.

Persevering Through It All
L.U. 150 (es,i,rts&spa), WAUKEGAN, ILWell, the second year of the new millennium is drawing to a close. Weve seen the September 11 terrorist attacks, a downturn in the economy and a president intent on drawing us into a war. And yet, we can still find reason to give thanks for our good health, continued employment and our families and friends.

We want to wish the following members a long and healthy retirement: William Bock, Leo McGrain, Elvin Meyers, Corky Bruckner, William Rivelli, Don Day, Duwayne Thompson, Rich Lahey, Al Harwell and Robert Cable. The following have retired on disability pension: Art Forsell, Jeff Cox and Jim Taylor. These brothers have all retired from the IO. Thanks to all for your years of service.

And now a moment of our thoughts and a salute for our brothers who have passed away: Kenny Reed, Tim Dawley, Fred Brawley, Bill Glover, Bob Butera, Joe Banis, Jeff Baxter, Tom Hourihan and John Byrum. Godspeed.

A volunteer is someone who offers their services of their own free will without being asked and with a valuable consideration. If you are looking for special recognition for volunteering, you may find it is a thankless job.

Have a safe and joyous holiday season. Our continued prayers are with Pat Lapish. See you at the meeting.

Wendy J. Cordts, P.S.

Training Center Upgrade

Local 164, Jersey City, NJ, newly renovated training
academy.

L.U. 164 (c,i,o&t), JERSEY CITY, NJOur local recently completed a comprehensive renovation project on its 40,000-square-foot training academy. With more than 1,000 federally registered apprentices, Local 164 has the largest apprenticeship program in New Jersey, and one of the largest in the entire IBEW. Local 164 is proud of its day school program established in 1962. Weve recently expanded our program to a year-round schedule in order to fast track the learning process from five years to three years for electrical apprentices. In addition, we are planning to transition the four-year telecommunications apprenticeship to daytime sessions once funding is secured. Local 164 also offers a large residential program, as well as a full continuum of more than 20 journeyman skill improvement and safety courses.

Among the new training academy laboratory capabilities are LON Works, instrumentation, fire alarms, PLCs, conveyor systems, motor controls, Cisco Academy, fiber optics, electronic key, PBX and advanced computers.

The Training Center also boasts a glass-enclosed technology center that showcases the systems installed by Local 164 members. These systems range from LON Works and Power Distribution to Voice, Data, Video (VDV), Alarms, Card Access and Multi-Media Systems. The newly renovated training academy will enhance our capabilities to provide highly skilled electricians and telecommunications technicians for many years to come.
