Daniel Patrick Moynihan
1927-2003

March 27, 2003

Statement of International President Edwin D. Hill

Daniel Patrick Moynihan was many things in his distinguished life: a scholar, a brilliant political theorist, and administrator, a statesman and a politician. One characteristic overshadows all others he was a genuine champion of the working class and the poor in the United States and around the world. A Harvard man from Hells Kitchen in New York City, he cut a unique figure in American politics whose like will not be seen again. We wish the Senator eternal rest and will honor his memory with heartfelt thanks for his monumental achievements on behalf of his country and his people.
