Finally, Spring

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 3, NEW YORK, NY/WESTCHESTER/PUTNAM CHAPTERSummer is here and were looking forward to our planned activitiesa golf outing, Bayberryland and mini-vacation trips.

We had a very interesting speaker, Bro. Richard Whisnie who is the assistant chairman of the Joint Industry Board Local 3 and legislator for Westchester county. He spoke about the state and county budgets, explaining the problems.

Computer classes started in May to give us a chance to learn or refresh our skills.

We extend out sympathy to Ellen Leonforte and family on the death of husband Pete Leonforte, a past vice chairman of our Westchester/Putnam chapter. Also, our sympathy to Anthony Ruocco Jr. and his family on the death of his father Anthony Ruocco Sr., a past chairman of the Bronx chapter. Have a happy and healthy summer.

Vincent Panzarino, P.S.

Good Food, Good Fellowship

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 11, LOS ANGELES, CAWe always have our meetings on the second Wednesday of the month. In June, however, our meeting was replaced by our summer luncheon. We had quite a crowd that enjoyed good food and the fellowship that goes on. It was great to see some of the brothers there that you otherwise might not see. I can remember brothers that I knew from my apprentice years and am now in my mid-sixties. Its cheap too, only five bucks a person.

Its still a little cool here on the West coast but its a beautiful time of the year. Golfers, bike riders, hikers, desert motorcyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts are enjoying themselves. Soon the beach-goer weather will be here and it will get hot, hot, hot.

Marty Shanahan, P.S.
