RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 103, BOSTON, MA.Attendance at our monthly luncheons has improved dramatically since the Trustees lowered the normal retirement age to 58. The luncheons are held on the third Thursday of each month, except January and February. The cost is $9 per person and meals are prepared and served by Local 103s exclusive caterer, Union Caterers. We hope the increase in attendance extends to our legislative and entertainment programs. We also assist the business managers office in volunteer programs. We have moved the Boston Catholic Labor Guild to its new headquarters in St. Josephs parish in Weymouth. In October of this year we have five nights at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. Make your reservations fast for this trip: cost for five nights plus airfare is $599 per person. We have a 15-day holiday cruise on the Norwegian Majesty coming in April 2004, from only $1,239 per person. Finally we have a seven-night Carnival Triumph cruise on November 8-15 from $859 per person including airfare. Contact Riteway Travel, 211 Merrimack St., Matheun, MA, 01844 or call 1-978-682-3245 if you are interested in any of the three events. Leo Monahan, P.S.
RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 130, NEW ORLEANS, LAThe Retirees Club presented IBEW logo watches to six brothers with 60 years of active service: Heno Daigre, Doug Ehrensing, Leo Klein, Stanley Meany, Frank Nicosia and Fred Zimmerman. Congratulations to these outstanding brothers and also to our newest retiree club members: Bros. George Frey, Laigi Bourgeois and Jerome Crowel. We are saddened to report the passing of Bros. Joseph Pregeant, Patrick Senac, Thomas Maxwell and Charles Davenport. May they rest in peace. Our next quarterly membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2003, in the Alexander Room. Spouses or one guest are welcome and food and refreshments will be served. Casino excursions are being scheduled from mid-August to mid-November, with no trips in December. Pray for our troops to come back home safe and sound. God Bless America. Buddy Carver, P.S.
RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 380, NORRISTOWN, PAOur club recently observed its 30th Anniversary. Years of service certificates and pins for members with 50 to 60 years of service were recently presented and we congratulate George Hullings (our oldest member), James Mayall (former JATC director and business agent), Arthur "Gene" Rhodes (oldest card carrying member), George Sellers, John W. Bolger, Fred C. Schempp, George W. Tupper and Ira W. Robbins. All were also presented with two outdoor lounge chairs. Local 380 is proud to honor these members for their longtime service and for making our local what it is today. We are sad to report that Bro. George Hullings recently passed away and send condolences to his family. Scott R. Sheldon, P.S.
RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 654, CHESTER, PAAfter having to change the date because of an ice storm, we were able to get together after the holidays. Sixty members and guests had a very enjoyable lunch and an afternoon renewing old acquaintances and hearing old stories. Bro. Danny Graham received his "Certificate of Accomplishment" for having successfully completed the Industrial Electronics Course. Needless to say, he went through this course some 40 years ago, but didnt receive his certificate at that time. Better late than neverand everyone had a good laugh with Danny. Bro. Bob Groff was there in civilian clothes. He only wears his Santa Claus suit at the locals childrens Christmas party, as he has very commendably for the past several years. Sometimes he can be found in sand sculpture competitions. Maybe he will furnish us some pictures for a future Journal article. Recent retiree Bro. Chuck Simmons was also in attendance and handed out complimentary CDs of his band "Hung Jury." He said that he has been playing for over 30 years now and started this band a couple of years ago. The retirees lost a member in March as word was received that Bro. Melvin "Pete" Hinkle passed away at age 75. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Our condolences to his family. T. Francis "Jeep" Hanley, P.S.
