Elected to serve three year terms were: President, Richard Schraeder; Vice President, Paul Casparro; Recording Secretary, Joseph Pohutsky; Treasurer, Eugene Arcurie, Jr.; and Financial Secretary and Business Manager, John T. Flanagan. Elected to our Executive Board were Joseph Boylan, Anthony Carito, Shawn Matticks, John Reichle, and Edward Scott.

We would like to thank all of the members who took the time to vote, with a special thanks to the judge of election, Jason Walsh, and the tellers, Mark Philllips, Peter Harding, Jonathan Demchak, Robert Holden, and Brian Dymek.

We would also like to recognize our outgoing officers, who have given unselfishly of their time to serve our local union, and who had chosen not to run for re-election. Robert Kerrigan served as an executive board member for 12 years, Paul Regan served as an executive board member for three years, and Timothy Krupski served as the recording secretary for the past three years. All had served on many committees throughout the years. We extend sincere gratitude to them for their dedication to our local.

We look forward to three more productive years of work and progress.

Welcome Governor

Local 95 Bus.Mgr.
Ron Lundien greets
Missouri Gov. Bob
Holden.

L.U. 95 (em,i,lctt, spa&u), JOPLIN, MO-Missouri Gov. Bob Holden stopped and talked about the "Geoffrey Tax Loophole" (named after a subsidiary created by Toys-R-Us) with a large group of teachers and educators of southwestern Missouri at our union hall on September 8. The loophole is an exception in Missouri tax law that allows some corporations to pay less in state income taxes by transferring some profits to corporate parents in states without income taxes. The loss of that potential income is costly to Missouri school districts. Gov. Holden urged the state general assembly to repeal the exemption, but the Republican-led legislature refused, saying it could drive businesses out of state.

Missouri is the 36th state and the fourth this year to adopt a concealed gun law backed by the NRA. Whether this law is good or bad please remember that NRA mounted $20 million to national ads and the get out the vote campaign to persuade union voters to vote against the union-endorsed presidential ticket, according to AFL-CIO figures. Don't be brainwashed by these actions, it doesn't do any good to have guns if you can't afford the bullets.

Local 95 wants to congratulate the following new journeymen wiremen for completing their JATC training: Don Chaney, Ron Frazier, Travis Gall, Justin Hartje, Robbin Huffines, Chance Lundien, Marty McCammon and Ryan McCracken.

L.U. 97 (u), SYRACUSE, NY-Bus. Mgr./Pres. Thomas Primero, Jr. and staff were in negotiations at this writing, this time with NRG. Completion was expected by the end of September.

It's that time of year when we present jackets and pins to our recent retirees. Hope you made it to the meetings to share in the festivities. On behalf of Bus. Mgr. Primero, staff and members, a heartfelt thank-you to all retirees for many dedicated years of service. We regret we could not include pictures of all the retirees because of space limitations.

On behalf of Bus. Mgr. Primero, assistant business managers and business reps, a thank-you goes out to the Executive Board, chief stewards and stewards for their contributions to the local. The job could not be done without you. Many of you put in hours and hours of unpaid time, effort and support on behalf of the local. Keep up the good work!

A Posthumous Award

L.U. 99 (govt&i), PROVIDENCE, RI-Our local's first-ever IBEW Life-Saving Award was presented to the family of Everett "Tommy" Woodmansee. Unfortunately, our brother Tommy perished in the Station Nightclub fire the night he earned the honor.

Work continues to be incredible in our area. We have almost 400 travelers working in the jurisdiction, and the fall and winter work picture are both shaping up well.

Our contract is finally settled. Although some members always seem to be upset with the result, there are seldom members asking what they can do to help next time. Let's start today to make sure we get what we want in the next negotiation.

Remember, you as IBEW wiremen are the highest skilled and most dedicated of all the trade artisans and Local 99 forever needs your help.

On Aug. 10 members and their families enjoyed a day of "tailgating" with lots of food and fun, followed by a minor league baseball game between the Lowell Spinners and the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The 57th Annual Apprentice Graduation took place June 5. Approximately 100 electrical apprentices and 50 telecom apprentices became journeymen and technicians. Awards in special categories were presented. Congratulations, graduates. We look forward to working with you.
