Update--Republican Party Outsourcing
Fund-Raising to India

Taj Mahal Side ViewMore facts have been revealed about the Republican Partys outsourcing of fund-raising to a call center in India from 2002 to 2003. [The story was first reported on the IBEW Web site on August 5, 2003].

The Indian newspaper, Hindustan Times, reports that 75 Indian employees contacted at least 20,000 voters through automatic dialing and asked them to contribute money to President Bushs re-election campaign.

Washington-based Capital Communications Group billed the Republican National Committee (RNC) $9.25 per hour for the calls. Each caller had a target of $400 per day. The newspaper claims that "conservative estimates" would put the Republican haul at $10 million.

Thats a lot of money. President Bushs "pioneers," who raise over $100,000 each for the campaign, get wined and dined at the White House.

We dont know what Capital Communications Group paid the Indian workers who made the fund-raising calls, but dont expect to see them at a White House banquet any time soon!
