'We Hold the Answer'

Local 665 sponsored a float in the city of
Lansing, MI, holiday parade.

L.U. 665 (i,rts,&spa), LANSING, MI-Another year has slipped away. With all that has happened around the world, we should be joyful and proud that we live in the United States of America. I know it's easy to blame others for the things that have gone wrong in our lives; however as union brothers and sisters, we hold the answer to our future. We should look upon our local unions and apprenticeship offices as tools to help point us in the right direction for learning and maintaining the best workforce in the electrical industry.

Once again, in December, our local was honored to lead the "Silver Bells" in the city of Lansing parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony. This year the attendance was estimated at nearly 80,000 spectators. Next year it would be nice to see all of our brothers and sisters walking with the float, or waving in the crowd. Thanks to all who participated this year.

Make a Real Difference

L.U. 673 (catv,i,rts, spa,t&u), PAINESVILLE, OH-Bro. John A. Rusnak has been called to active duty with his U.S. Army Reserve Unit. They'll leave for Iraq in the near future. We wish Sgt. Rusnak and all our men and women in uniform a safe return.

The holiday season started off with our annual Charter party on Dec. 6. Thanks to everyone who worked to make the event a great success.

We are privileged to belong to a strong union, and we are privileged as well to live in very difficult times for the trades and for all working people. The only way we can grow is to work and plan together - that's called solidarity. Let's make it our New Year's resolution for 2004 to show up at meetings, speak up, and get involved.

Christmas Display

L.U. 681 (i,o,&spa), WICHITA FALLS, TX-The local's apprentices once again volunteered their time to help MSU, the local university, set up its annual Christmas display. The display has been a tradition in Wichita Falls for many years. It has grown each year and now takes several days to install. It is a worthwhile project and gives the local good exposure.

The coming year is an election year, so go vote! It is a privilege to be able to vote; many people of the world do not have that right. Make sure you exercise your rights and vote.
