Club Outings Planned

Guests attending the Local 3, Westchester/Putnam
Chapter, Retirees Club Christmas/ Chanukah
luncheon included club officers and trustees, as
well as Local 3 representatives.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 3, NEW YORK, NY, WESTCHESTER/PUTNAM CHAPTEROur 2003 Christmas/ Chanukah luncheon was well attended by 115 members and their spouses at the Lake Isle country club. Everyone enjoyed food, dancing and socializing. A big thank-you to Chmn. Jim ODonnell and his wife, Jane.

After a very difficult winter we are looking forward to an early spring. We are in the process of planning spring and summer activities. Computer classes will resume in April. A fishing trip, a golf outing and many other ideas are being discussed.

Sadly, it is official now that our beloved Bayberry Land is no longer available. The union is looking into other locations as a replacement.

A happy, healthy spring to all.

Vincent Panzarino, P.S.

Super Support

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 5, PITTSBURGH, PANo one is quite certain when our last submission to the Journal was, but our members have indicated they desire to see articles from our club again.

The Local 5 Retirees Club was started in 1990 and our first president was none other than our late beloved Bro. A.R. Andy Johnson, retired Third District International Vice President. From those early days, our club has prospered, due in the main to the aid and assistance of our business managers, their staffs and local members. We are blessed with super support from current Local 5 Bus. Mgr. John Chalovich. Bro. John, his staff and the entire local go to great lengths to make it obvious to all that we are never forgotten!

Current Retirees Club officers are: Pres. Bill Reinert, Vice Pres. Ron Reibie, Treas. Jim Mongelluzzo and Sec. Earl Johnson. President Reinert, officers and members of the club always come up with interesting events and programs.

Our membership presently stands at 80, and our goal is to bring every Local 5 retiree into our club!

Ron Reibie, P.S.

New Branch Club

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 46, SEATTLE, WAOur Retirees Club is still in business and some of our more enterprising members have started a branch club across Puget Sound.

Our work picture is still awful and our local and state governments are working against us at all levels. We have managed to dump some of our worst enemies on the Seattle Port Commission and we are working our way down the list.

Our Retirees Club is getting our first order ready to purchase new jackets with the club logothe jackets are union-made in the U.S.A. The jackets come from an outfit called Image Pointe (1-800-408-2388 Ext. 16). Their prices are better than competitive.

Do you pay attention to where a movie was made before you buy a ticket or a tape on a disc?

We thank Local 46 active members for their support of our club. Support your JATC. How about volunteering to speak to apprentices about safety tips, tricks of the trade and maybe a little about the good old days?

Buy Made in U.S.A.your pension is at stake.

Sen. Kennedy For Kerry

Local 58 Retirees
Club members turned
out to hear Sen.
Edward M. Kennedy
speak at the local
union hall.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 58, DETROIT, MISen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) spoke at our union hall in support of Sen. John Kerry for president. We had an overflow crowd. I was glad to see many of our retirees turned out. As with most seniors, WE VOTE!

Our monthly luncheons have been well attended. We had over 200 at our Christmas lunch and a donation from our group of over $1,000, which was given to four local charities.

Those living and wintering in Florida had their luncheon in March on the gulf side. Thanks to Bill Rushford for making the arrangements.

Many members have reported that they dropped their membership in AARP, and with good reason. We mistakenly thought we belonged to an organization that represented seniors best interest.

We will be taking our annual trip this September to Cape Cod. At press time, early sign up was scheduled for April. It seems that we have plenty of interest so sign up early.

John Ahern, P.S.

Spirit of Brotherhood

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 99, PROVIDENCE, RIOn Dec. 16, 2003, we held our annual Christmas luncheon at Lancellottas Restaurant. Honored guests included: North Providence Mayor Ralph Millis and, from Local 99, Bus. Mgr. Allend P. Durand, Asst. Bus. Mgr. Ronnie Leddy, Organizer John Shalvey and Referral Agent Kirk Rerick.

The mayor presented the retirees a plaque proclaiming Dec. 16, 2003, as IBEW Local 99 Retirees Day in the town of North Providence, which was a surprise to everyone. The mayor spent several years as our plan administrator for our pension-annuity plan.

On Dec. 19, Joe McCarthy, John Walsh and Ray Germershausen visited our shut-in brothers and delivered fruit baskets. Thanks to the generous donations we received from our brothers who attended the luncheon. This is what brotherhood is all about!

Welcome to our new members: Dan Harbertg, Terry Pierce, Buddy LeBlanc and Ed Keenan.

We wish good health and a speedy recovery to Bros. Joe Riley, Don McLean and Jim ORourke.

Keep the spirit of brotherhood strong!

Pat Colucci, P.S.
