Mullinax first became an IBEW member in 1938. He became a member of Local 108 in 1955. Bro. Mullinax began his electrical career in 1935, working as an electricians helper for TVA. He worked on the electrical construction and maintenance of the Wheeler, Wilson and Great Falls hydroelectric power plants. He was involved with the construction and operation of the Oak Ridge, TN, atomic energy plant from 1942-1945. From 1945 to 1955 he worked as an electrician for Southern Railroad in the Memphis, TN, facility. He moved to Lakeland, FL, in 1955, where he worked as an electrician I/C for the citys E&W department. He was promoted to T&D supervisor in the construction and maintenance division in 1981. Bro. Mullinax was later involved with installation and maintenance of the citys underground electrical distribution system, where he was considered the system expert. Bro. Mullinax is an inspiration and asset to the labor movement. We wish him a healthy and enjoyable retirement. Doug Bowden, P.S.
L.U. 110 (em,i,rts, spa&u), ST. PAUL, MNCongratulations to the Inside Wireman Apprenticeship graduating class of 2004 (see photo). I would like to thank all the brothers and sisters who voted in the November 2004 elections. The previously large GOP caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives is now down to only two. Even at this time, sounds coming from the state Capitol are much improved over just two years ago. Just two more years and we can improve the U.S. House and Senate! Steve White, P.S. L.U. 111 (em,lctt,mt,o,rtb, spa&u), DENVER, COLocal 111 has been busy with organizing in Colorado. We welcome the following new groups as union members: Asplundh Tree Expert Co., in both eastern and western Colorado; Morgan County REA Engineering; Xcel Energy System Protection Dept.; and Tri-State G&T Rifle Station. The Rifle Station personnel came in under the existing agreement with few modifications. The other groups will be, or have been, negotiating new agreements. Thanks to all the members who worked so hard and volunteered numerous hours during the past general elections. Colorado, through the help of our dedicated union members, once again, has a House and Senate controlled by labor friendly candidates, which is an accomplishment for a state that supported the incumbent president. Work safe. Wishing you all a happy new year. Dennis Z. LeTurgez, P.S.

L.U. 125 (lctt,o&u), PORTLAND, OROn April 13, 2004, Bro. Lon Bickler, line equipment operator "A" and Bro. Lloyd Long, journeyman lineman, both employees of Bonneville Power Administration, were traveling on the Hood Canal Highway near the small town of Brinnon, WA. The IBEW members noticed a man lying next to a truck trailer combination pulled over to the side of the road. They stopped and found the man unconscious and displaying signs of a heart attack. They called 911, retrieved the A.E.D. defibrillator from their vehicle and delivered an electric shock to restore heart function. They then started CPR and continued resuscitation until emergency medical personnel arrived. The injured man was transported by helicopter to a trauma center in Seattle. Emergency responders at the scene credit the actions of Bros. Long and Bickler with saving the mans life. The IBEW honored Bros. Long and Brother Bickler with the IBEW Lifesaving Award on Sept. 30, 2004. Washington Gov. Gary Locke presented Bickler and Long with a Washington state lifesaving award at the governors conference. Local 125 commends our brothers for their quick and decisive action in the face of a serious emergency. Steve Rose, Organizer
