Habitat for Humanity

Some of the Local 773 members who
participated in a Habitat for Humanity 2004
project.

L.U. 773 (as,em,i,mo&o), WINDSOR, ON, CANADAThis past year Local 773 and the defending Provincial Champs hosted the annual OPC baseball tournament in Windsor. We thank all the locals who attended the tournament making it a successful event. Local 773 entered two teams and the Blue team went undefeated with a record of 5-0 to keep their title.

Local 773s portion of the Habitat for Humanity Windsor 2004 project was successfully completed and we are already in the planning stage for the next project. Congratulations, brothers and sisters, for a job well done.

A moment of silence was held for the passing of Bro. Ron McDowell, a member of Local 773 for 57 years, a WWII veteran, and the father of Ed McDowell, president of Local 773.

It is also with regret that we announce the passing of Bro. John Managhan. John was a happy-go-lucky fellow who loved to whistle; if you didnt hear him whistling you better look out because he was surely up to something. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

Congratulations to 55-year pin recipients Charlie Ashmen and 50-year members Bob Ebbinghaus and Mike Turok. Bro. John Managhan had also recently received his 50-year pin.

Gary is an electrician technician senior and has worked at TMI for 23 years. He first got involved in racing in 2001 and created "Box T" racing in 2002. Gary and his wife, Diana, own and oversee Box T racing. Gary is also the driver and mechanic. Diana serves as crew chief and arranges setup. Two other TMI union employees, Mark Klick and Randy Fenner, serve as pit crew, assisted by Will Dimelar.

In Garys rookie season, he had five top 10 finishes out of 20 races, finishing the season 10th in the points standing in a field of 30 cars, and received the "Rookie of the Year" award. For the 2004 season, he had two heat wins, two top 10 finishes, and finished 29th in the points standings in a field of 56 cars. The crew will be back in action in 2005 at Silver Spring Speedway.

Box T racing also has 21 personal sponsors who are fellow union brothers and sisters at TMI. We wish Gary and his team the best of luck going for the checkered flag.

Rail Awards

L.U. 794 (rr), CHICAGO, ILIt has been a while since 794 reported; in the future an attempt will be made to change that. Hope everyones holiday season was safe and enjoyable, and that the new year will be prosperous for all.

With deepest sympathies we report that Bro. John Siebert left us much too soon. In recent years John had great impact on many members of the local. He will be greatly missed. Bro. Siebert left us on his 51st birthday.

L.U. 804 (i&o), KITCHENER, ON, CANADAIn accordance with the International Constitution, the Executive Board appointed Mark Kuehl as business manager/financial secretary of Local 804. Bro. Kuehl has held various positions within the local union, and his skills and knowledge will pay dividends for the future of the local. On behalf of the membership, we extend congratulations to Mark. We wish him the best with all future endeavors.

The annual 804 Christmas party, held Dec. 10, once again was a resounding success. This years event marked the first time that various politicians within our community attended our festivities. Many of the "movers and shakers" within the political arena attended, and they enjoyed meeting the local membership. The leadership of our local has continued to stress the importance of being politically active within our jurisdiction, and the presence of the politicians was a welcoming sight.

Congratulations to all who received years-of-service pins and achievement awards. The night was highlighted as everyone in attendance gave a standing ovation to the 50-year pin members as they were being "piped" through the room by Bro. Calum MacDonald. It truly was a night to be remembered, as the true spirit of unionism was exemplified.
