New Retirees Welcomed

Local 103 Retirees golf club members attend opening
day at Presidents Golf Club in Quincy, MA.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 103, BOSTON, MAThe club finished 2004 with a Christmas party at which we celebrated our successful year of activities. We also extended our condolences on the loss of so many brother members, the list of which is too lengthy to acknowledge.

We are heartened by the large enlistment of new retirees who make our trips and festivities more successful each year. We also acknowledge the work of retiring club officers who have performed so well to make the club successful.

Quite a few officers and members are heading south for the winter. Spring training with the World Champion Red Sox is the hot ticket in Ft. Myers. Due to likelihood of inclement winter weather, there will be no monthly luncheons until our corned beef and cabbage dinner March 17.

Our first attempt at a golf league was not as successful as we envisioned. Write us with ideas to improve the turnout and any ideas you may have to improve any of our festivities.

Remember: Mail in your 2005 $12 dues to receive club newsletters. Make checks payable to Local 103 Retirees Club, 256 Freeport St., Dorchester, MA, 02122. Keep in touch via our Web site at www.ibew103.com/retirees.

A Lively Group

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 110, ST. PAUL, MNAs it has done for many years, St. Paul Local 110 hosted its annual dinner for retirees Sept. 30, 2004, at the Prom Center. Approximately 345 retirees attended and staff from the local were present. Dick Elgaard, Ken Farber, Bob Karel, Ken Pyotoski and Dick Swoboda were honored with 50-year pins; George Hill received a 55-year pin; and George Simons a 65-year pin.

Local 110 Retirees are an active group, meeting monthly with 75120 people attending and welcoming new members as they join. It is a fun, supportive and interesting group. They enjoy lively discussions, picnics, an annual fish fry, entertainment and volunteering for the local!

Many thanks to Local 110 for supporting its retired members and their spouses.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 130, NEW ORLEANS, LAOur club was chartered in June 1971 and we now have 120 dues paying members.

The annual Christmas party held Dec. 16, 2004, was a gala affair featuring a sit-down dinner, cocktails and music.

Our next general membership meeting is scheduled for Thurs., March 17, 2005. At that meeting the nomination and election of officers will be in order. We will have food and refreshments at the meeting.

Our casino excursions, now being planned by the officers, will start in January 2005 and continue through November. We are planning a trip each month for our members and a guest.

Congratulations to Local 130 retiree Eddie Fenasci, who on Sept. 5, 2004, celebrated his 100 birthday. Congratulations also to Ed Hartley, 94, who celebrated 77 active years in the IBEW on Nov. 4 2004.

We are saddened to report the passing of Bros. Edward Johnson, Michael Patureau, Maury Thibodeaux, Ruston Trahan and Sherman Wilkinson. May they rest in peace.

We wish all our brothers and sisters a very prosperous new year.

Join Our Great Trips

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 150, WAUKEGAN, ILOur annual Christmas party for the local children held Dec. 5 was fun for all. The Langes and Holsts did the shopping and planning and the Bandmans provided Mr. & Mrs. Santa. Many thanks to all our helpers.

We had a great year with some interesting trips, including our Christmas trip to Dubuque, IA. We enjoyed a progressive dinner at four beautiful Victorian mansions and dessert at a very old jail. That was followed by an impressive "Reflections in the Park" display. The next morning we attended the outstanding National Mississippi River Museum.

Other trips were to Kohler, WI, where we had a great tour of the Kohler Plumbing factory. That was followed by luncheon at the American Club and a visit to Whistling Straits golf course. We also took a luncheon cruise on Lake Michigan and visited Navy Pier.

Wed love to have more of our local retirees join us. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at the union hall at 1 p.m.
