Holiday Dinner Meeting

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 291, BOISE, IDOn Nov. 11, 2004, our club met at 1 p.m. at the Kopper Kitchen. The door prize was won by Joy Harness. Pres. Harness invited all the veterans present to stand for special recognition in honor of Veterans Day.

The Dec. 9 Christmas party meeting was held at noon at the JATC Training Building. A great Christmas dinner was prepared by the members. Nearly 50 people attended despite rainy weather. In attendance as guests were JATC Training Dir. Ed Loughney and Instructor Kelly Lamp; and from Local 291, Asst. Bus. Mgr. Larry Wearin and office secretary Dawn Walsh. We missed Floyd and Lois Pinney, who were unable to attend because of illness. Pres. Don Harness placed a call to them by cell phone so the group could wish them a Merry Christmas. Gifts were distributed by those participating.

At press time we were scheduled to meet on Jan. 13 at the Golden Dragon Caf at 211 S 21st Ave. in Caldwell at 1 p.m.

Invitation to Join

RETIREES CLUB of L.U. 479 Beaumont, TXIn our last letter to the Journal, we reported that our club was recently organized, officers were elected and bylaws adopted. We recently received our charter. Local 479 Asst. Bus. Mgr. David Gonzales presented the framed charter to Bro. Harold Broussard at our monthly meeting. We are very proud to say that the officers, staff and members of our local are very supportive of our club. Since starting our club we have presented two IBEW watches for 60-years service. The service awards went to retirees James "Jiggy" White and Everette Lockhart. Congratulations to these brothers on a well deserved award.

Currently we have 50 members on our rolls, with approximately five new members joining each month. We have a short business meeting and program of interest before our spouses serve lunch. Also, a door prize drawing is held each month. We invite all IBEW members both young and old to join us at our monthly meetings, regardless of your status or affiliation. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at the local union hall.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 760, KNOXVILLE, TNThe Local 760 Retirees Club had their 2004 Christmas party at Ramseys with a great turnout.

We are saddened by the recent death of several club members. "Ms. Ann" Bruce passed away on Nov. 25, 2004, at the age of 93. She was the Local 760 secretary for more than 40 years prior to retirement in 1983. "Ms. Ann" received her 55-year service pin earlier in 2004.

Also, Roscoe Shipley passed away Dec. 1, 2004. All of our recently deceased are listed in the "Local Lines" section of this months Journal. They will be missed.

Our next Retirees meeting will be in April 2005. Hope all had a great holiday, and we look forward to seeing all of you at our next meeting.

Retiree Celebrates

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 1116, TUCSON, AZRetiree Joseph Ricco and his wife, Betty, celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary Oct. 24, 2004.

Joseph started working for Edison Electric in 1940 before moving out West and going to work for TG&E. He became a member of Local 1116 in 1956 and retired from TG&E in 1975 after 26 years of service, for a total of 35 years in the electrical industry.

At this writing, Joseph was looking forward to his 95th birthday on Dec. 28. He retired as an "A" member and as a chief meter reader. Rumor has it he never took a sick day during his years of service with TG&E.

Josephs wife, Betty, retired as a nurses aide in 1984 and she became the first women elected as president of the Italian American Club in Tucson. Joseph and Betty have three children, 10 grandchildren and four great children.
