Bellamy Family Benefit

L.U. 103 (cs&i), BOSTON, MAAfter heavy winter snowstorms, with a little luck by spring the snow will have melted and delays on our jobsites will have ceased. Local 103 had a tragic loss on Jan. 17. Member Dan Bellamy was tragically hit by a snowplow while preparing to go to work in the early dawn on a still snowy day. A man who gave so much of his time to Local 103 and the labor cause, Dan will surely be missed. He leaves behind his wife, Susan, and three children: Cora, 5; Lilah, 2, and Matthew, 18 months. The benefit for the Bellamy Family is Sat., May 14. Im sure it will be well attended, as Local 103 shows it never forgets one of its members or their families.

Apprentices swept the annual journeyman/apprentice hockey and basketball games. The scores: hockey, 8-2 and basketball, 74-67. Attendees enjoyed a great gathering at the union hall after the games.

The work picture remains bright as we wait for our trade to get going. Theres a lot of steel flying and many jobs will break ground this spring and summer. Were fortunate to have projected growth in residential, financial, hospital, university, transit and bio-med/pharmaceutical sectors of our local economy.

John Bomar Retires

Local 125
representative
John Bomar
recently retired.

L.U. 125 (lctt,o&u), PORTLAND, ORBro. John Bomar retired on Feb. 25, 2005. John had been a rep for Local 125 for 10 years and a part of the utility industry for over 40. Bro. Bomar most recently was the rep for Bonneville Power Administration employees covering four Western states. Prior to coming to work for Local 125 Bro. Bomar spent a number of years working as an assistant safety director for BPA and then as safety director for Western Area Power Authority. John is justifiably proud of his 40 years of membership in the IBEW and recently told us, "Ive put three kids through college and I live a good lifeeverything I have, I have because of the IBEW." You would think that after all the miles Bro. Bomar has traveled in his work that he would stay home and relax. Well you dont know John. He and his wife, Carolyn, are getting in the RV and going on a year-long tour of the United States to, "hunt, fish, play golf and see everything that weve missed." The members, staff and elected officials of Local 125 wish John and Carolyn the best and thank them for their unselfish dedication to the betterment of the IBEW and Local 125.
