Contract Book Saga

A break in the action for

member Rich Daley.

L.U. 2320 (t), MANCHESTER, NH—The contract saga continues. We ratified a contract almost two years ago and Verizon has failed to provide the membership with the new contract books as stated in the bargaining agreement. They must be having a problem with their spell check! [Editor’s Note: As of press time the contract books finally have been printed.]

There has been a lot of movement of our membership to new job titles and locations; this has been a great inconvenience to those sisters and brothers. The "no lay-off clause" is forcing the company to find jobs for these brothers and sisters instead of forcing them on the unemployment rolls.

IBEW Second District Int. Reps. Carol Fitzgerald and Edward W. Collins Jr. visited our hall to put on a training seminar for the Executive Board. It was a day well spent fine-tuning our skills to help us lead this local.

Verizon’s "Fiber to the Premise" new construction is keeping our linemen and splicers very busy in the southern part of the state with crews traveling in from other states and from other in-state locations. Remember to work safe.
