Call Center Bill

97 replace a pole on Court Street
in Syracuse, NY.

L.U. 97 (u), SYRACUSE, NY—Local 97 reached an agreement with St. Lawrence Gas on a 45-month contract effective May 20, 2005, through Feb. 19, 2009. The contract features a base wage increase totaling 11 percent over the term of the agreement; benefits remain intact with a minimal increase to employee contributions.

In the political arena, we are working on and supporting Call Center Bill #A4184, which will keep our Emergency Call Center here in New York state and prevent jobs from leaving the United States.

We honored our retirees, at our May and June meetings, for their loyalty, hard work, and support of our local union through the years. We wish them health and happiness in their retirement years.

John Satunas, P.S.

Rebuilding Together

L.U. 99 (govt&i), PROVIDENCE, RI—Work continues to be slow in this area with about 18 percent of our members ready to work. We expect that with the approach of warm weather we will be up to full employment for the summer work.

Another successful "Rebuilding Together" project was organized by Bro. Mike D’Amico and performed by our members, helping underprivileged folks who cannot afford to hire an electrician.

By this printing we will have another local election behind us and as I have said many times in the past, I sincerely hope all members who ran for office stay involved regardless of the outcome of the election. Your ideas and your beliefs do represent at the very least a portion of the membership; they put their faith in you and they deserve for your voice to be heard.

Have a great Independence Day and remember "Freedom isn’t Free"!

Joe Walsh, P.S.
