RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 666, RICHMOND, VA—Our club attendance has leveled off for the time being. We averaged 64 members per meeting in 2003 and 2004. Our longtime sergeant-at-arms, Blackie Murray, passed away and Bobby East has stepped up to fill that post. Our former vice president, Donald Phillips, stepped down because of poor health and Fontaine Bowles filled that vacated post.

We’ve had excellent speakers at recent meetings. Topics discussed included: Fire Safety, Stretching for Seniors and Elder Fraud. Also, our Anthem representative answered questions about our health and welfare plan.

We have had two outings. One was a trip on the Annabelle Lee. The other was a guided tour of our Local 666’s new offices in Highland Springs, VA.

For the last two years, we have been invited to have our picnic at Bro. G.B. Spencer’s home in Chesterfield County. Bro. Spencer is shown in the accompanying photo operating his saw mill from his wheelchair. G.B. is a real inspiration to all who know him.

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 760, KNOXVILLE, TN—We invite all IBEW retirees, along with their spouse or family member, to join us for our Retirees Club meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. at the local union hall. If you cannot attend every meeting please try to attend the ones you can. There is always great fellowship and good food. Our first meeting of the year was April 16, and we planned activities for the rest of the year. Join us!

The Retirees Club extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of retired members who passed away recently. Charles Wardell Jr., a 59-year member, passed away March 23, 2005. Bro. Wardell looked forward to attending our meetings every month and took a big part in each meeting. You will be missed, Charlie!

Also, as of this writing, the following retired members had recently passed away: Carl Brummett, Taylor Jackson, John Worthy, Paul Jessie Rush, Warren Ashley and James Robbins.

Let’s also remember our troops serving our county. Local 760 has some members who are serving active military duty. We pay them tribute and wish them well.

Gainesville Retirees Club

The first official meeting of the Local 1205

RETIREES CLUB OF L.U. 1205, GAINESVILLE, FL—The first official meeting of IBEW Local 1205 retired members was called to order at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005 at the union hall located at 2510 NW Sixth Street in Gainesville.

In attendance were Malta Blackburn, Murl Lucas, Maurice Hope, Lewis Friedman, Richard Melton (past president), F.N. Thomas, Gerald Nielsen, Wayne Hinson, L.O. Lynn, Clayton Graves, Theron Hunter (past president and business manager), Marion Bryant, Mark Prigge and Wayne Sparkman.

Brotherhood runs strong, and with deep roots, throughout this group. After reminiscing about the "old days," Bus. Mgr. Jeff Henderson gave an overview of Local 1205’s jurisdiction and the current work situation.

In closing, it was agreed to schedule future meetings at 4 p.m. on the first Friday of every month. All brothers left with the confidence that future meetings would be successful.
