IBEW Pledges Reward Money for Conviction(s) Related to Church Fires

February 13, 2006

Birmingham--The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council U-19 and the Alabama Power Company are offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons involved in ten church fires in Alabama.

"IBEW is outraged that this could happen in our state," said IBEW System Council U-19 Business Manager Bill Frederick.  "Rural churches are the heart of our small communities and represent the hope of many of our Brotherhood.  We want to do our part to bring
justice to those responsible for these terrible events."

Frederick approached Alabama Power about contributing to the fund, and a joint contribution has been established to use as reward money.

IBEW System Council U-19 represents 3,000 employees who work on Alabama Power line crews and in generating plants.
