Economists Agree on Need For
Employee Free Choice Act

While business groups condemn the Employee Free Choice Act as a financial burden in tough times, more than 40 noted economists from across the country agree that increased unionization would fuel the economy with better wages and benefits that flow from collective bargaining.
“A rising tide lifts all boats only when labor and management bargain on relatively equal terms,” said the economists in a letter posted on the Economic Policy Institute’s Web site. “In recent decades, most bargaining power has resided with management … More than ever, workers will need to act together.”
