Members of South Bend, Ind., Local 153 wanted to show support for pro-worker legislators who walked out of the statehouse to block anti-middle class legislation from being rushed through the General Assembly.

House Democratic caucus members are staying in Illinois until their fellow legislators end their attacks on working families, so a group of Local 153 members helped lawmakers’ families by clearing their driveways of nearly four inches of snow that fell on February 25th.

Says Local 153 Membership Development Director Troy Warner:

With our state representatives in Urbana, Ill., fighting for us, we wanted to show our gratitude to them for standing up for the working class families of Indiana.

More than 25,000 Hoosiers rallied at the state capitol last week to tell legislators to oppose right-to-work legislation.

Republican leadership in the state senate announced last Thursday that it was withdrawing the controversial bill, but activists say they will remain vigilant and mobilized until all anti-working family bills are withdrawn.

An e-mail from the Indiana AFL-CIO says:

Our campaign against anti-worker legislation will not stop. Over the next week, we’ll continue to march on the statehouse in Indianapolis to express our opposition to these attacks on workers.
