VERIZON TALKS CONTINUE

WASHINGTON, DCAs the midnight contract expiration approached in union contract talks with Verizon, the IBEW and the Communications Workers of America announced that negotiations are continuing.  The unions said that members will remain on the job until further notice while talks are underway.

Union leaders determined that enough progress had been made at the bargaining table to continue working toward a contract settlement.  However, they reported that key issues remained unresolved.

The CWA represents 60,000 members at Verizon and the IBEW represents 18,000.
