IBEW International President Lonnie R. Stephenson issued the following statement regarding the election of Maria Korsnick as president of the Nuclear Energy Institute.

“On behalf of 750,000 IBEW members across the United States and Canada, I offer my sincere congratulations to Maria Korsnick on her election as president and chief executive officer of the NEI.

“Nuclear power continues to play a vital role in providing a stable, non-polluting energy source and the Nuclear Energy Institute has been an integral force bringing together industry, labor and lawmakers to keep nuclear a secure part of our energy portfolio.

“Maria brings to the table more than 30 years of experience in nuclear power and she is a needed voice as we work to confront the challenges facing the industry.

“I also offer my congratulations to retiring president and CEO Marvin Fertel, whose leadership has been absolutely vital during these changing times for our energy landscape.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Maria and the NEI as we work to secure nuclear energy’s future in this nation.”
