IBEW Statement on the Tragic Shooting at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard

IBEW International President Lonnie R. Stephenson issued the following statement on the shooting death of two members of the Hawaii Federal Employees Metal Trades Council at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam:

“All of us at the IBEW were shocked and saddened to learn of the senseless deaths of two of our Metal Trades brothers in yesterday’s shooting at Pearl Harbor. We pray the third victim is able to make a full recovery and offer our prayers and assistance to each of the families in this difficult time.

“IBEW members work hand-in-hand with other tradesmen and tradeswomen to maintain our nation’s nuclear submarine fleet, and a tragic event like this rocks our entire labor community.

“We take great pride in our members’ contribution to this nation’s defense, and we encourage every effort to ensure a tragedy like the one yesterday never happens again.”
