Washington, D.C., Local 26 member Mark Duncan couldn’t believe it when he got the call from the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance telling him he’d won a trip to attend the 2016 Bassmaster Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“I never win anything,” he said, so the news that he and a guest would receive round-trip airfare, VIP access, lodging, transportation and $1,000 in spending money to use at the March fishing tournament came as a shock.

Local 26 member Mark Duncan and son, Patch, are headed to the 2016 Bassmaster Classic in Oklahoma.

Carhartt, the outdoor apparel company, sponsored the USA’s 2016 Ultimate Bass Sweepstakes and will present Duncan with a new camouflage jacket to take on the trip.

“I’ve watched the Bassmaster Classic on TV before, but I’m sure it will be a much different perspective seeing it live,” Duncan told USA Magazine. He plans to bring his 15-year-old son, Patch, who is crazy about fishing and excited to soak up all the angling tips he can in Oklahoma.

Patch recently joined a program called Mystery Tackle Box where he receives a different box of fishing lures every month, so the opportunity to learn from the professionals has the teen raring to go.

This is the first time Carhartt has sponsored a USA giveaway to the Bassmaster Classic, though it has been involved in several sweepstakes in the past. In 2015, the company awarded a lucky Sheet Metal Workers member a trip to the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn.
