Morgan’s episode of Brotherhood Outdoors airs on the Sportsman Channel Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. Eastern with re-airings on Friday at 11:30 a.m., Saturday at 1:30 a.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m.

Membership in the union electrical trade is often shared from one generation to the next. So is a passion for hunting, and on the next episode of Brotherhood Outdoors, Syracuse, N.Y., Local 43 member Dustin Morgan brings the two together.

Morgan was flown to northeast Utah for a once-in-a-lifetime bow hunting trip stalking some of the largest mule deer in North America.

And by his side was his father Don, a retired wireman also from Local 43.

Brotherhood Outdoors is a project of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, a nonprofit uniting union members for conservation projects and preserving the nation’s  heritage.

Morgan was chosen for the trip for his dedication to his union and community as well as his passion for hunting.  Morgan is an avid bow hunter and runs an annual big buck contest at his local and won a reputation for being a crack shot.

“Bow hunting out West isn’t like hunting in the East where you are generally in a treestand or blind waiting for a relatively close shot,” said Union Sportsmen’s Alliance spokeswoman Kate Nation. “We needed an ace who would be good under pressure and comfortable taking a long shot in wide open country. Dustin had a reputation that made it to our producers.”

The program follows Dustin, Don and their guide as they stalk bucks across the vast landscape of the high desert plains.

“Hunting the West is something I’ve always wanted to do,” said Morgan. “This was an amazing experience for me, especially being out there with my father.”

This episode is for everyone who ever wondered about the pinnacle of North American bowhunting.

“The first night in a blind, my dad and I watched a herd of about 30 bucks cross a hillside. We’d never seen anything like that,” Morgan said. “The whole experience was amazing. You don’t really know what a ‘trip of a lifetime’ means until you are experiencing it.”
