On March 31, the nation celebrated National Lineman Appreciation Day

Lineman put their lives on the line every day to ensure that electricity is safely delivered to our homes and businesses.

The IBEW and the Edison Electric Institute celebrated National Lineman Appreciation Day March 31 to salute lineworkers across the United States.

“Hurricanes, ice storms, and other devastating natural disasters certainly put the spotlight on the nation’s power lineworkers,” said IBEW President Ed Hill. “We’re grateful to the courageous, hardworking men and women who work tirelessly to restore service following these difficult events, as well as their daily work to keep power flowing. IBEW is proud to recognize the dedication and commitment of our nation’s lineworkers.”

To honor the nation’s lineworkers, Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina introduced a resolution in support of designating March 31, 2014, as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

“We honor and thank them for their dedication and service and recognize the critical role they play in keeping the lights on,” said EEI President Tom Kuhn.

The EEI is a coalition of investor-owned utilities. Approximately 150,000 IBEW members work for EEI member utilities.
