Avaya Update #8

Thursday, May 15

Avaya presented more retrogressive proposals today. Under their plan, part-time employees would pay for all their benefits if they work less than 40 hours per week. The company also proposed elimination of the Accident Disability Plan. To those who are unfortunate enough to be on Sickness Disability, they would be off the payroll after 26 weeks.

Awaya presented proposals on several other optional benefits plans. Optional plans are those for use by employees who choose to pay the premium. We are scheduled to meet again on national issues Monday.

The Operations Subcommittee is continuing to meet daily. Several articles have been agreed on and will be presented at the main table for approval. The parties continue to review all letters of agreements for part two of the CBA. Letters that carry forward will also be brought to the main table for approval. Any unresolved issues remaining at the subcommittee will be moved to the main table during the last week of negotiations.
