Bargaining Update #12

May 21 2003

After heated discussions about Avayas contingency planning, the company said they had no proposals to pass. The union then presented counters to company proposals on Academic Awards, Lucent Transfer Plan (LTP), Healthcare Coordinators, LTP Coordinators, and Employee Resource Coordinators (ERC), the Avaya Savings Plan, the Medical Plan and the Pension Plan. In addition, the union presented a proposal for a pension increase for retirees.

At the Operations Sub-Committee the company and union have agreed to present a number of articles and letters to the national team for approval at the Friday morning session. The parties still remain far apart on a number of local issues that, if not resolved at the subcommittee level, will be brought to the main table. The subcommittee is planning to meet over the weekend with the company and is preparing counter proposals.
