IBEW International President Edwin D. Hill on Proposed Verizon/Frontier Sale

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers President Edwin D. Hill issued the following statement about the proposed sale of Verizon assets to Frontier Communications Corp:

“Verizon’s announcement that it is selling $10.5 billion of its wireline operations in California, Texas and Florida – along with a Missouri-based call center – to Frontier Communications Corp. will affect millions of customers and thousands of workers across the country.

“The final sale must be approved by the Federal Communications Commission, the Justice Department and state regulatory agencies. The IBEW represents more than 3,000 Frontier employees in Florida and California.

“We are currently reviewing the proposed deal and will be an active participant in the regulatory review process. The IBEW is committed to preserving good jobs, quality service, and reliable telecommunication and Internet access, and we call on regulators to keep those goals front and center throughout the process.”
